How much was the Direct Payment per pig back in the days you are referring to? I must have missed that program signup.

Bull crap, pure and simple, BULL CRAP.

Individual producers may produce under COP at any given time, heck that will happen even at $7 corn. But for the industry as a whole, all one has to look at is what has happened to the basic input for farming over the years, ie LAND. Chemical, seed, iron prices will go up and down, because a producer can use a competitive product cheaper, but YOU CAN'T GROW SQUAT WITHOUT LAND, and over time, productive land has never gone to ZERO. Ever.
