Disclaimer, I have no Idea what I am talking about!

If the 40 amp fuse works, the 10 ga wire should be ok at that.
why not just use a 40 in the main line and put a fuse on each clutch @ 15 or 20 amps. Would be safer for the clutch than a 30 amp.
