Some receivers can only use CMR+, some can only use RTCM v2, and most newer receivers can use RTCM v3. The IA DOT provides multiple formats so that there is at least one format that most receivers can use. For the GeoSteer, I'd recommend using RTCM v3 even if your rover won't use the GLONASS data.
