I've got no answer for the "controller not available" issue. Rebooting has been solving it, it sound like that has been the same for you. I'm fairly certain this is the type of thing that will get better in the future with firmware updates.

As to the high population, the sensor sensitivity can be adjusted. Always do an in-field check first before adjusting the monitor. Then adjust the seed tube sensitivity until the monitor matches the in field check. Higher numbers are less sensitive. Most ISO planters that I have adjusted have liked a sensitivity setting in the upper 20's. This usually brings the monitor count in line with the numbers I get from a dig check, and settles down the bar graphs and the skips/multiples quite a bit, once that sensitivity is dialed in.
