| Just wanted to make you all aware of a bug that has taken 2 years for us to get diagnosed with JD. We are running a 2630 display on a 1720 planter with a rate controller. The swath control feature allows you to set the time on / time off for the seed system and a different time on / time off for the starter fertilizer we are controlling with the rate controller. Over the last 2 planting seasons we have had the planter do crazy things at the start of a pass - turn on / turn off some rows / turn them back on after a few seconds. It mostly appeared on the edges off irrigated circles where the headland line was a curve and not a perpendicular line to the pass. We could make the problem go away by using a 2600 display we discovered last season and ended up using that display most of the season. JD thought the problem was in the planter and had been doing numerous updates / and re-updates to it. We finally found a tech at JD who diagnosed the problem. If you are using two different time on / time off's for seedstar and the rate controller, they must be fairly close in value. If not - you get the problem we had. I have since set them to be the same. Also, we were informed that the difference between time on / and time off must be less then one second. I have not tested this to see if it is a problem, but our values are less then a second apart. Making these changes removed 99% of the occurrences of the problem. We still have it occur a couple of times a day, but far less then nearly every pass of before. | |
