The bottom line is that unless you want to convert the drill's valve to the open center spool AND install an oil cooler in the return, you'll probably regret it.
I'm running a Deere harvester on a Ford tractor. IT works OK with the conversion spool but there's still significant back pressure in the return. I generally shut the oil flow off unless I need it but it should have a cooler for continous use.
