Kingston,Mi | Another factor to consider is the width of the crib, in Michigan and much of Ohio, 6 ft was the recommended width. The further south and west and in to earlier harvest in better moisture conditions, wider was possible. The row crib at the farm is 5 ft. wide and she never has an issue with spoiled corn, a 12 ft. round crib is filled next with dryer corn and generally the corn stays in good condition and finally a 14 ft round crib is filled last with the driest corn and emptied first during the winter to minimize spoilage. Neither round crib has a ventilator in the center anymore. | |
