Chelsea: Hedge Healthcare Stinks
That workplace malcontent Chelsea Clinton aired out her employer Avenue Capital Group in a big way.
In an MSNBC broadcast, Chelsea said she had trouble with the healthcare offered at the hedge fund.
"If you have healthcare and you're not happy with it, like me, who has employer provided health care, but I'm not happy with it, and if you are one of the 100 million who are uninsured at some point throughout the year . . . you'll be able to buy into a Congressional health plan," she said.
Chelsea bit the hand that feeds her while visiting a Wisconsin college in support of her mom's White House bid. Rabble-rouser Chelsea was responding to a question about what New York Senator and hopeful Democratic nominee for president Hillary Clinton would do for HC.
The former First Daughter has been on a college campus meet-and-greet. Her campaigning on Hillary's behalf led to an off-color remark from an MSNBC broadcaster that Chelsea was being "pimped out" in the service of her mom.
Chelsea joined Avenue Capital in November 2006, just after the distressed specialist sold a stake in itself to Wall Street heavy Morgan Stanley. She had worked for all-world consultant McKinsey & Co. prior to taking a job with the company whose bennes she would come to badmouth.
Good thing AveCap founder Marc Lasry is a friend of the Democratic Party; a big-time Dem donor who has backed Bill Bradley, Al Gore, John Kerry as well as Hillary. It's a safe bet that Marc is willing to take one for the team and give off-the-reservation Chelsea a pass.
But in the meantime, it's clear that Chelsea has gone from mild-mannered all-American girl next door to some kind of white-collar guerilla fighter bent on running afoul of the powers that be. Chelsea, if you read this, take heed: You're a lose cannon, kid. Better lose that chip on your shoulder and go along to get along. Word to the wise.
