I have a 97 JD 9200 tractor with something around 3000 hours that has been gaining fluid in the transmission and loosing it in the hydraulic side.I am assuming the hydraulic pump, which is gear driven from the transmission case, is leaking past the seal into the transmission housing. Has been doing this the last couple of years, very little at the beginning and now is getting so we have to drain a gallon or so out of the transmission every 100 hours or so or it will get overfull. When we pulled a Wako drawbar flex harrow a bunch this spring we didn't have any trouble (only time hydraulics are used on it is during folding) but if we put it on a disc or something that uses the hydraulics quite a bit the problem shows up. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it fixable with a new seal in the pump or is this a case where it is better to replace the pump cause the new seal probably will not last long anyway? Are there any special tricks to removing the pump - looks pretty straight forward. Thanks John |
