Are there different types of SATA sockets ?

The 2 being used have small pin holes visible in the sockets after removing the cables from the board the other two black ones beside it appear to be blank sockets ? they don't appear to be the same type of socket unless they have flat contacts on the underside of the socket I can't really see.

Seems dumb they would have installed blank sockets that were not useable yet i could see them only installing the bare minimum.
