Yes what you are wanting to do is perfectly fine. Different colored SATA cables are exactly that. Diferent colored. The colors don't mean anything. Unhooking the cable from the optical drive and pluging it into the hard drive is fine.If you had another SATA cable you could use one of the two unused ports on the motherboard.
