Actually that is not very unusual at all.

The average winter temperature for Anchorage is about 15 degrees warmer than Minneapolis.

Also, typically when MN has a cold snap Alaska will have a warm snap. Conversely, when MN is warmer than normal that means Alaska is colder than normal. Meteorologist Paul Douglas likes to mention that little tidbit of information quite a bit.
