They are lying to you. There are different prices on repeaters, but I think that their price is way out of range. I have two SNB 900 units I purchased used on Ebay a couple years or so ago for 600 to 800 dollars each and they then require a power supply, with an adapter and an antenna for a total price of 1000 dollars or less each. I think the SNB 900 units are made by Trimble. There are two or three different ways they can be setup, such as a repeater or a base (which I have never used).

I do not know where you are located, but it sounds to me that the RTK signal provider is more interested in the income than providing a service.

My RTK service provider came and he had a repeater in his pickup and we drove around to all of my fields to check signal strength. From the results he determined that if I was to get any kind of service he needed to put up two repeaters and as soon as I told him I was good to go he installed the repeaters. He has one or two other customers that are getting much better signal since he installed one of the repeaters. He has two towers I can pull off of and we checked both at each field and went with the one he claimed would be best. Last summer the tower we were pulling off of went down and I switched over to the other tower and then had to use my portable repeater a little more, but got the job done. I am not sure how many towers my provider has, maybe 10 or 12, but only two are close enough to me to use, but if I expanded to an area served by another one of his towers I could switch over to that tower with out any additional charge. My yearly rate allows me to use any of his towers at one rate.
