 East Central Ia | The lower the frequency the better it will penetrate objects. Lower frequencies have longer wavelengths meaning less of the signal has to travel through any given thickness of an object.
Also the 902-928 MHz band is an open band that the FCC regulates to a max transmission output of 1 watt... Sort of plug and play mentality.
The 450mhz band requires an FCC license, like a business band radio, to operate and I think the radios are around 10 watts.
They should broadcast much farther and handle obstructions a little better.
I don't know about cost.
Just keep in mind that you will loose about 1" of horizontal accuracy for every 5 miles away from the base you are.
