The issue I had last time on this XP machine was I was simply doing a Windows update. When it shut down to do a restart all I got was a black screen and a flashing cursor could not boot into safe mode or do anything. It was totally out of the blue had not been acting up or anything. That was when I panicked thought I lost everything on the drive including those once in a lifetime pics. At least I had another older computer I could get online with to research things and read about stuff. However it was a daunting process to get through and was really my first time in attempting anything major like that.

It was a good learning experience just like this has been and hopefully I am much more prepared and familiar with the process in case I have issues later.

Guess it's like the rest of my life I always feel better being somewhat prepared for things instead of being blindsided by them unexpectedly.
