My solution isn't free, but it sure is easy... Instead of making multiple dvds and wondering if it will work in the future, another option is to get a second hard drive and cloning software  (I have Acronis True Image 2013 which is ~$50) and making a true clone.I just went through this process with a new W8 computer and don't think there is an easier way.

First,I installed the donor drive to the new computer. Then I opened the software and cloned the drive. It is as easy as clicking 'clone' and and choosing the source and destination drives. 15 minutes later the computer restarted and I was running on the cloned drive. The cloned drive is now safely stored, waiting for a major crash.
