In setting up a couple Dell computers from scratch over the years, the one driver you have to have available is for your motherboard's network connection. Without that, you aren't getting on the internet. You install this right after you install the O/S. Sound and video can be updated later off their web site. You won't have any sound until you add that driver, and the video will look better once you get the right driver there. I'm not sure about USB support, but I do know that mouse and keyboard support is there without any special Dell drivers. I've found the Dell site confusing for showing me which drivers need to be installed, even when I put in the service tag. It appears to show all possible drivers rather than just the ones that are newer than the ones already installed. |
