while i understand your reason for wanting to do so, leaving the rye/wheat grow in competition with the corn is not a good idea. Among many reason not to do so, if rains were to come at the wrong time the and spraying could not be done rye would get out of hand and easily hurt your corn yields. In addition, that would not be allowable from a crop insurance point of view.
