You are right, it won't hurt. That being said, what you're doing is waaaay more than most people do. In your situation I would not worry about said partition.
If it makes you feel better though, it would not hurt to do some research on how to back it up. You know as much as I do about that at that point so I'll allow someone else to comment or let you research it;).
