| In answer to whether Dell's rcovery disk will create a recovery partition, I do not know. What it will almost certainly do is have several programs installed that are of no use to you or anyone else even when you first start the computer after installing. Dell (and all other computer mfg's that I'm aware of other than Apple) get a kickback from the companies that sell these worthless programs if Dell pre-installs them on your computer.
That's why I like a totally clean install from Microsoft original disks.
The first thing I do when I get a new computer is I make sure I have all the required drivers and then I pull a Linux CD out because Linux does a lot better job of partitioning than the handicapped Windows installer does. Once I've partitioned the drive to my liking, I then install Windows, the drivers, the Windows updates, anti-virus (of my choice, not Dell's pre-installed stuff) and the programs I want.
This same process applied for my Lenovo T430 I just purchased. | |
