Hastings, Florida | Thank you for trusting us enough to confide your thoughts. My prayers are with you and your family. I fought cancer for a year, some time ago, and am still doing well.Chemo is not fun, but it certainly can be beneficial.
You are an old school trucker, it seems. Me too. We learned the hard way to get things done by ourself, very independent folks.
Now the time has come to think a little differently. Learn to ask others for help, as you did with this post.
Find some experts. Money experts, medical experts, religious experts, legal experts, and ask them your questions. Tell them your wishes, and work up a plan to deal with all possibilities. Talk, and I mean REALLY talk with your family and friends. You will be pleased with how much aid they can give you, both materially and spiritually.
I would liquidate all my assets, except the home, pay off what I could, rest to my wife.
I would plan a" FUN "-eral. No sad faces, but a get together at a place that meant something to me. Have a meal for everyone, maybe a few pictures of me, and a friend to say a few words. A Clergy to offer a prayer, and my ashes scattered in a special location, that my wife chose.
It will be tough, but know your family and friends care for you, and are there to help. So are we.
Please keep us informed, and we all hope for the best. | |
