Embarrass WI | You have got a lot of good advice already, I just wanted to add that my Mother-in-Law was diagnosed with advanced colon cancer and given an outside chance at 2 years to live. That was 3-1/2 years ago, she is still living alone and driving and has been gaining weight-so don't automatically assume the worst.
Getting a second, or third, opinion is good advice.
My Dad was a 3-pack-a-day smoker for a lot of years and was diagnosed with lung cancer in August 1988, he passed in March 1989 after being miserable for months due to the treatments. He would have been much better off with just pain relief for his last few months.
God has given Man much better treatments "now" than there was "then".
If I was in your shoes, I would try to get my affairs in order, or at least make sure everyone knew everything that was going on. If you don't want to sell things now due to tax implications, make sure your wife knows what everything is and it's true value. Then I would take that trip that you've been putting off.
