Eastern VA. No such thing as too many Magnums.
Let us know if you're talking new, used, really used, or pretty old. There are several versions of 16 row 30" planters over the years and we need to know what era planter you're looking for. I personally like Deere planters, but I'm planting a lot more than corn with mine. The current Deere models that are available 16x30" are:
-1770 (pull type, with or without central hopper)
-1790 (pull type with splitter rows)
-1720 (3 pt mounted, stack fold)

Before the 17 series, you could get a 7200 pull type or a 7300 3 pt. The 7200 series had several different versions with the same model number. They clarified this with the 17 series. You could also get a 7300 stack fold. 7240 was pull type with splitters, 7340 was 3 pt. with splitters. Before that they had a 7000 pull type and 7100 3 pt. I think only 7000 and 7200 were available 16x30 on the older models

If you want twin rows, check out Monosem.

I like the Deeres because they're plentiful, cheap, simple, and easy to find attachments or aftermarket parts for. I can plant many different vegetable crops with the same planter, and you can refurbish old ones to work perfect if you have any skill. Everyone seems to complain that the latest models are getting more and more foreign parts and more factory misadjustments. I wouldn't know, I always buy used ones. I have two 7300 3 pt versions. We love them. Good, reliable, low maintenance planters. Thats one person's opinion.
