Driftless SW Wisconsin | You are welcome, Jon. Our Curvetine II has teeth on it like our planter Curvetine XR. These teeth "chip in" the sidewall but it also has a broad shoulder just behind the teeth that gives you good closing in drier or worked ground and prevents the teeth from going too deep. The SDX version has Timken tapered roller bearings and are regreaseable through a JD triple lip seal arrangement. The JD 1560 and higher models have no bearing since the JD bearings are at the other end of the shaft. By the way we are looking into a new idea for a row cleaner system for the 1890 and 1895 drills in the not too distant future. Here's a photo of the Curvetine II on a JD drill. Jim at Dawn
