| FWIW, I have a neighbor that runs a machine shop the does a lot of heavy work. He machines cranks for industrial machines that weigh in the thousands of pounds. He used to work for a large company in Kansas City, I can't recall the name, but I was talking to him about Jib hoists. He only has a couple very small ones, his main hoist is a large overhead trolly. He said that they used one ton hoists to load the lathes where he used to work, and each one of them had about 6 yards of concrete and some pretty specific rebar in the footers. I then decide that I would do something a little different. I would check with a hoist company, at least for footer specifications, before you pour you floor. Otherwise, I think I would strongly consider bracing that pipe into the building. | |
