Subject: Harvestore's problem

West Union, IOWA FLOLO Farm 52175
I'll take a stab at it, but I'm sure I'll miss a few and please don't take any of them personally--To use they are/where a valuable tool that allowed us to feed some very good quality feed that allowed us to utilize our own production and limited purchased feedstocks.

Most people blame AO Smith for the problems they had usualy falling back on blaming high setup cost and and maintainance, but a couple of things happened to lead to the demise of some.

--they were oversold by some pretty oversure salesmen, some firmly believed you could play Rumplestilskin and put junk in,gold out,it don't work

--They didn't care if they "oversold" one good 2 better and yes a lot of owners of the "tombstone " series got caught up in hype and status

--some operators just didn't have the "skill" to manage equipment that needed scheduled maintainance and a poorly maintained one could turn into a money pit quickly

-- reality struck in the 80's and and weakness in "mangement judgement" showed, basically if you can finance it you can afford it

I never seen a salesman take anybody to see the failed ones as they always had their "showplaces" that utilized almost every piece of the system and some got sold on the system and thought if they emulate the "system" the management skills would follow.

Flameaway, I'm sorry advance if I offend some, but remember they are just tools to use, how you use them, dictated the result--loran
