North Central Montana (Conrad) | From what I understand, if you are under 10,000 gallon capacity, you can self certify and do not have to put a liner in the containment. You can use anything you want to build the berm, sidewalls, etc. The containment just needs to hold the spill for 10 hours time. Over 10,000 gallons is a whole different story. The rule also states that the size of the containment must be 110% of your largest tank plus a certain length of rain event. That rain event is different per area. Mine was only 3 inches of rain water here. Check it out on the epa website. The paperwork can be filled out online and saved and changed and printed out at anytime.
I put a system up from Souix Secondary Containment. It was nice and easy to do. I did time it right that both my tanks were almost empty so I could move them and put in the liner. I know that is not possible for all people though. I went this way because double walled tanks were so expensive and a long ways out, as said above. I am glad I am done with mine.
Also remember that any 55 gallon drums need containment under them as well. |
