The logging contractor has a nice feller buncher that can remove every third row with very little damage to trees in the adjacent rows. We plan to thin down to 200 - 300 trees per acre then thin again or clear cut at 18 - 20 years of age. I plan to plant long leaf or slash pine in the clear cut plots. Blue berries, watermelon and pasture do well in this area but cotton, corn or soybean are not good options.
