Subject: RE: Using a no-till drill in disked stalks

central - east central Minnesota -

It works fine, as posted . . .
The consideration is, generally the feilds are very rough. The drill has no problem with the roughness, but you end up slowing down quit a bit, as compared to going down untouched rows. Depending on the situation, you could end up fighting more residue, but, if done last fall, it should be broke down well by planting time.
I generally plant between 7-8 mph in standing stalks. In disked ground, I've planted as slow as 4 mph and it still is rough on opener depth control and operator.
Rolling the field before and after will help bust up those root balls.
