Texas/New Mexico Stateline | It is easy to see why the engineers are confused. Half want levers and mechanical gauges, possibly a radio on the fender. The other half want to control the tractor from their iPad.
My dad's 1988 Toyota pickup the A/C has NEVER been serviced and still blows cold air after 25 years and 200,000 miles. Reliability should be number one issue for engineers.
Second to that is make them easier to service. I liked the comment get rid of all the hidden fasteners and holders. Just put a simple twist lock like in the old tractors and trucks. Turn 2 or 4 locks 1/4 turn and the whole panel comes off. I was thinking about this today. My 1991 CIH 9250 one of the speakers quit working. Turn two screws out and the whole circuit breaker cabinet in the ceiling drops down. Even has a little cable to hold it where it won't swing too far. Made it easy to check the speaker wires at the back of the radio. If they could make it like that 20 years ago, why not now? Made a simple little repair so easy and quick.
FUNCTION over FORM !!! It is a tractor, not a Mercedes car.
