Trivoli, IL

ego getting better of me, SSTT (sideways snake train tractor) see link

for full details for past 6 to 8 months...

slowly getting there. though the way this thread is going, perhaps it is time i switched things up. and start contacting manufactures directly or them me.  and actually put some effort into actually contacting. vs pushing things off till i have a better grasp on everything.

quickly did google search for isobus and came across....
http://dictionary.isobus.net/isobus/dDEntity/index?DDentity_page=3
it looks like an old "game script"  not very friendly, and not very easily expanded upon. without going into propitiatory computer code.    assigning numbers and addresses really?   i understand need to get down a list of this and that. but generic little freebie games are more up to date than what i am seeing in this standard.

fertilizer companies are already making a "mix and match" machine that sets at one of there offices.  why are these machines and various chemicals not already on tractors and implements?  why do i need to get a "pre-mix" vs mixing on demand to what is needed for that given area of the field?

why am i stuck with "this seed" and putting "this particular seed" over the entire field?  sure be nice to selectively choose different seeds for high and dry areas, vs low and wet areas,  or shaded areas.

why am i stuck having to have 2 gates (needing 2 gates just to make them easier to open and close)  to get machinery into fields?

hydraulics will have there limits.   you can only push so many GPM (gallons per minute) at X amount of pressure,  through a given diameter pipe. before you have to enlarge the pipe/hose.   going to small = 3000PSI being made at pump, but only seeing 1000PSI at the very end of pipe/hose that is to small.   the larger the diameter the hose/pipe is, more so when ya talking 2000 to say 5000PSI hydraulic oil pressure.  the cost begins to sky rocket up.  mainly due to how much reinforcement is needed to keep the pipe or hose form exploding.   the larger the diameter, the less the pipe/hose will flex / bend.

electrical. has same like problems. but diameter of wire size vs diameter of hydraulic oil pipe size.   electrical will be smaller.  and most likely, not weigh as much.

hydraulic oil, does have its con's,  more so if air is allowed to get into the oil.  that can cause a spring effect, or a sparatic motor kinda having power one split second, and not really any the next.

electrical has same like problems.  but it is more in cured of not having "a clean single"   think old days, when ya had TV on. and then plugged in a vacuum, and the TV went all fuzzy.  also issues of brown outs (not enough power), and also power spikes (to much power).  all of which can destroy computer chips.  and at moment i am not really seeing much happening on tractors.  it is like they do not acknowledge it, or perhaps there is not enough electronics yet to deal with it.

granted above is not the best examples in the world but hopefully get idea across.  that electrical will most likely be what takes things over.  and direct connections of engine to transmission to final drive to wheels will be removed,  along with possibility of removing hydraulics.   though hydraulics will most likely not be phased out.

still following the automotive industry.  were you have millions of folks, that do not know how to even check oil.    vs  farming, were it is expected to be known.  give me the software i can install on my laptop, that has a wireless connection.  let me input some generic password/username codes for wireless internet.  let me open up a website (the tractor itself has a diagnostic website built into the computers on the tractor) and let me click away.   from checking lights, to clicking on a 2D or 3D image, and then individually clicking an opener or actuator or wheel, and make it do what ever it is suppose to do. and let me look at the laptop screen setting on ground as i climb upside down if need be to see if it is working like it should be.

green, yellow, red,  (color blind folks arghs),  but really fancy buttons, small screens,  give me generic touch screen LCD like displays for computers. and let me load microsoft windows, or mac, or linux on computer. and let me drag stuff around to were i want it. for a given layout.  and get away from this only 2 engineers in world can make sense of this stuff.

let some script kiddy, make some hack, that skips certain spots in the field during planting. so once the crop grows, and your up in your airplane/helicopter/flying car.   see the name. or symbol or what ever.  instead of doing things the old fashion way of "crop circles".    heck skip, plant a different type of crop altogether.

let me place different types of seeds at different locations. so as i go across a drainage way / grassy area. so i can put down a given seed type that might out grow the grass/weeds right at the edge or up against a fence line, or some sort of windmill tower out in the middle of the field.

let me buy a single "cab" or vehicle. that has smaller power,  and not having to "rebuy" another cab for next size tractor HP up.

let me drive everything back to the homestead at night, after the sun sets. vs having to wait between 1 hour after sun rise and 1 hour before sun sets to move tractor and implements on the road. and dealing with either walking, or having someone come pick me lazy rear up that does not want to walk a few plus miles home.

let me play my "playstation" or "xbox"  that is what i played when i was a teen. why is it, i gotta have "complex syndrome" with hundreds of buttons?  and no easy way to remember or label them all?   most online computer games have reconfigurable keyboard settings for what does what in a game.   give me a touch screen. and a game pad. vs trying to re-invent the wheel every time a new piece of machinery comes out...

lets actually put descent cameras on things,  that have both cooling and heating built into them, with fan. and telescopic lens, and ability to rotate along 3 different axis.  ((other words, heating/cooling to dealing with fogging of lens, dealing with sunlight glare, etc...))     i gotta scratch me head at times, when i see this big bulky cabs stating visibility, but by the time i look out and try to see what is happening at the end.  i can not make out squat.  so what is the point? besides catching something that has turned into a big mess. and not being able to catch it sooner.

what does a large cab do, that is on the tractor, when i want to check out all the closing wheels. and see if a bearing might be out, or something else is loose and causing everything to vibrate itself to death and break.  not like i can look back, and see through all the hoses, frame work, etc....  and i can not hear squat. (i am in a cab that is sound proof)

drone tractors, most likely is being the proven ground, for drone cars/trucks on the road.  how much longer will it take, for tractors to be ran down the road directly via GPS?   not likely to happen. if tractor and/or implement is "over sized" and ya dodging mail boxes, and scooting back and forth across the road to deal with oncoming traffic and like.

============
ending, fingers are getting tired.
as i look back, ya most likely on a rant.  sorry, more frustration than anything. and guessing manufactures themselves, are also frustrated.  i mean how do you break away from something so set in its ways?  risk factor is pretty far up there.   yet specialized vehicles get turned out for small niche markets.
