mascoutah, IL | Ray, they just pulled this yesterday. I had a few loads that were rejected at our normal terminal that most do buisness with around here. They were both low 20's. Could of waited an hour and taken them back but heck there is 6 terminals here in about a 5 mile stretch so I ran them to a few other places and they passed. The one that ticks me off is one that is new and does very little buisness. Called the place on the way there, market was already closed and was quoted a price of 7.44 which is what my original terminal is paying. About 5 o'clock I got an email that the basis went down 46 cents and they are only paying 6.98. The other one is my fault, should have called instead of thinking there website is correct even though it says it was updated but they dropped 25 cents yesterday also. Like I said before I understand the nickels and dimes but 46 cents seems a little excessive. I would guess that 90 percent of the corn coming in right now is spot, acording to the guys I talk with while waiting in line, so they can really make a killing this way. This is the first time I have noticed it and have been hauling for 3 weeks now. I sure won't go back to the one place. Funny thing is that the terminal dumping 3/4 of the corn could easily do this and don't but I guess that's why they are the leader around here.
