northwest tennessee | I dont have a dairy but I am seeing the same thing with beef. It still needs to be reasonable in price but like you said you buy high priced fertilizer and then you need rain etc. which you may or may not get. The last few years fertilizer has not paid off for me. But it looks like I am going to do it again though but with litter. I get more return out of litter because even if we dont get rain in the summer I get results in the fall from it and will graze it. The hay game has really changed in the last 3-4 years. Just look at all the costs of hay and how they have gone up. Land use, equipment, fuel, fertilizer, etc. | |
