Near-north Ontario, French River | You don't say what type of trailer you are pulling, dump or hopper? If its a dump I'd dump the air, not so much to save the bags but to make things more stable when dumping. Only time I've ever seen a trailer go over , the bags were loaded. Trailer was 80% of the way up , part of the load stuck at the nose, as the trailer leaned a bit the air suspension tried to level things, that caused the trailer to lean the opposite way, went back and forth a couple of times and then over she went. Dumping the suspension should in theory provide a more solid base, so less chance of things going bad. Now when unhooking a trailer , if the trailer has air suspension, ALWAYS dump the air before dropping the land gear. If the suspension leaks down at all, you risk damaging the landing gear as the trailer will inch forward as the suspension lowers. |
