Cut a maple tree in front of house in the 1980ies.
Blocked it and split it for firewood.
Found a spile from syrup making in it when splitting it.
Spile was mid way between my cuts so no harm done.
Counted rings and figured it to have been placed in the tree in the 30ies or maybe a little earlier.
50 years of growth and it was completely in the wood some distance.
