Subject: Re: modem for trimble 750

We started with Intuicom Bridges, but after a year switched to DCM's. We use AT&T as our carrier. They have the best coverage in our area. It is a data only plan, so there is no contract, no termination fees, etc. We put them on standby in the winter for 6 months or so, and pay just a maintenance of about $15 each. During the season I believe it is something like $25 or $30 each. Since we don't use connected Farm, there is little data, so we have i think the lowest data plan and have not gone over our minimum in the 3 years we have been using them. Close, but not ever.

We switched to the DCM's after a year because they have wifi built in and better data capabilities for Connected Farm if we want to get it. They also proven to be more trouble free also. Faster boot times and lose connection less.

When we were shopping, Verizon had the most expensive plan. Sprint was pricey too. The hard part was getting the carrier to figure out that it was being used on a third party modem and it was data only. No hardware, only a Sim card We had to go to the AT&T store and get the Sim cards, but they were free. It just took a lot when calling for prices to explain what sort of a plan we needed.

Trimble has unlimited data plans they offer through any of the carriers, and it's like $600 a year for that.
