Subject: RE: Corn Maze

Southwestern, MS
I, along with a partner, have had a maze open for the last two years. I designed and cut the maze out myself. I designed the maze on graph paper, then digitized and georefencered it in FarmWorks Sitemate. We planted the corn in a pattern that was identical to the graph paper, or at least as much as we could. We planted the corn twice, going basically N to S the first time, and then E to W the second time. We used a JD 8 row 38" planted, so we had the rows basically 19" apart. Really this is not close enough, because you don't want anyone to see through the corn by the time the maze opens. It is amazing how many new trails will be made by the time it closes. Once the corn was big enough to start mowing, I put the GPS and the iPaq running Sitemate on a JD zero turning mower and just followed the lines. Here is our website if you would like to view it. Hope this helps.
