Net nutirent status = off take less mineralization/recycling. The unamended soil will take longer to 'recharge' after off-take.

Removal without some replacement every year would be net mining. Say one removal event per 3-4 yrs would allow sufficient mineralization of nutrients from parent soil material. That is what I gather the Browns do....ie more rest than harvest...1-2 yrs of covers and/or grazing between crops....'live' fallow if you will. Much like long term prairie soil.....lower production potential and sufficient recharge time.

This is much different than 1 removal event on the same ground each year....yes, added fertility will be needed since off take rate markedly exceeds mineralization...with out without cover crops.

My soil has been 'forming' due to mineralization for the last 300 mill yrs....why would the future 300 mill yr be any different?
