Embarrass WI | I looked at a couple dairy farms back in about 1984 or 85, when I was working for my Dad yet. Sure glad I didn't buy any of those. Shortly after we moved where we are now, there was an 80 I'd been renting the owner wanted to sell-$400/A. Fresh into debt on our first owned farm and trying to get started, I turned it down. Ended up buying it about 6 years later for $1400/A.
Last couple years, there's been a few pieces we had chances at but didn't go for, I was 'keeping my powder dry' waiting for land to turn down. Then in Novemebr a landowner who had 100A of real good ground that laid in between 2 pieces we already own called and I was unable to resist, had to go back in debt after not having payments for the last 6-7 years. |
