Is this land "sabbath" and jubilee mentioned in other books than Leviticus?
Because this book is the most controversial in the whole Bible, with dozens of inanities such as forbidding eating black pudding that every Christian soul breaks many times a year without believing they are breaking a divine commandment, but it is also clearly addressed exclusively to the Jewish people, the "children of Israel", hence the name of the book, not to Christians.

In any case, even if land fallow is a good agricultural practice, chemical fallow is definitely a no-no as far as the Bible goes, as it opposes the biblical principle of letting weeds grow. But then again, if it's only Leviticus...

Most land fallows I've seen used a shorter cycle than the Bible's 7 years, so it seems they were doing it for reasons other than biblical.
