N FLA | Standard around here is to spread a ton of gypsum, and lime if needed. Calcium is very important. Melons are usually on rotated pastures, which have low nutrient levels. Then they drop about 30 units of N, and 80 P and K in the row and bed it up. Then during the season inject 8-0-8, usually an injection everyday. Generally about 150 units through the drip tape. That said, everybody has their proprietary program that makes them a better farmer than the next guy.LOL
Our sand doesn't hold much, thats why they spoon feed the nutrition. Calcium and Potash are very mportant. Like most vegetables. | |
