Thanks for the nice pics. The thing that surprises me is that you can put the labor into a tractor that old and high hour and come out cost wise. Seems like a tractor around here is considered worn out at somewhere around 10,000 hours and not cost effective to fix anymore as the parts and labor becomes cost prohibitive.

I wonder if the mechanics that do these conversions and repairs on these older tractors are just that much more effective at their jobs than what our mechanics are. Older high hour tractors tend to go to salvage yards instead of being repaired around here. Not too many ever even get that many hours on them in their lifetime.

Another difference I would imagine is most tractors here are owner/operator tractors and the operator usually likes something nice to drive. The owners of the cane tractors may not care what the operator has to dirve as long as it gets the job done.
