I think you won't find very good answers to your question as the environment is the biggest factor.  What kind of fertility does your soil have now, what is the soil moisture when you are applying.  What I am going to do is a tissue test and foliar apply what nutrients are low at that time.  I also will be doing this 3 or 4 times during the growing season.
