Little River, TX
Some would prefer to have a bit drift over the fence rows because they perceive the organic fields as sources of fresh weed seed for the birds and rains to transport to their soil.

I grow only alfalfa that is "susceptible" to roundup so My neighbor usually had his outside tip one sometimes two rows away from the property line.
For a good while I was tempted to use a RR alfalfa in a 15 foot strip next to the property lines. Then a few years ago that neighbor decided to plant wheat all around his corn fields.

I tried to encourage him to hang his boom over the property line and over a few feet of alfalfa, to get all of his weeds. It has been my observation that the round up would show in the alfalfa but not kill it. HERE alfalfa is difficult to kill with Round Up, Has been for the last 20 or more years. Takes more than the 2 qts/a mentioned on the label, at least in July. Can't say about September.
