| I have a 50 ac field that is going into soybeans this year and Im wanting to plant a cover crop that will give me some grazing for cattle this fall and early winter. I'm planting a 3.9 bean which should be ready for harvest by the end of Sept or the first part of Oct (hopefully). This field is in a soybean/corn rotation. Will I have enough time for the cover crop to do its thing (improve soil structure) and provide enough grazing for the cattle? Am I asking for to much? I realize it all depends on the weather and the planting date of the cover crop. Soybeans can be planted in 15 or 30 inch rows. I have problems with winter annuals such as henbit, etc. Im wanting to notill corn the following year. Needing rec. for what to plant?- rates? aerial application? Should I apply a burndown first? etc. Im located in Central Missouri-north of Interstate 70. Just wanting a few suggestions (or maybe alot). Thanks. | |
