WC MN | At night the plant is shut down. Or at least a decreased metabolic rate compared to daytime. In my neck of the woods heavy dew happens most summer nights. If spraying on a heavy dew, there may be a potential for it running off the leaf surface. If running full label rate on small weeds, generally not a problem. I've sprayed RU at night and had good results.
2,4-D is known to volatize or flash out. Spraying in the day time creates a potential to lift and drift. The warm soil brings the herbicide up and it is possible to carry. More of a safety thing I would say than an issue with efficacy. That being said, crop injury above 85 degrees can also be a problem. Those temperatures tend to happen during the day. | |
