WCIN | I agree with Rhino! I haven't been farming long but I've missed out on a couple. Had a good seed customer call me and my partner one spring, said he'd had a heart attack and wanted us to farm it that year, it was in the heart of NH3 and we said we come see him when it rained in a couple days. He died of another heart attack the next day. A real shame, he was 65 yrs old farming out his retirement on his dad 200 acs with his dads 3020 and 4440. His widow was approached in the line twice at his calling. Another neighbor got it (he and the guy who died pretty well hated each other but he got it). I don't think he was one asking in the line though. I figure I valued Sam more as a friend and know that his choice was to give me a start but didn't get the chance. In my world, you still got to sleep at night, and you're still farming.
Hope you get another shot at some more ground. Nice guys don't always finish last. | |
