....or one might ask, is there a SAFER herbicide than glyphosate that kills weeds? If so....what is it? Has any other herbicide been questioned as much as glyphosate? Maybe atrazine, but the landlord probably didn't ask about atrazine.

I think all herbicides have some type of warning label. A hoe from Farm & Fleet has no label nor any restrictions. There are choices. Many of us farmed with no herbicides (except maybe 2,4-d) for a long time & are well familiar with both sides of the fence on the subject.
