WOW,what an arc !! On the history channel series called dangerous jobs,they showed guys flying up beside a live 500 KV line in a copter to attach struts between 3 lines to prevent whipping/tangling. They would fly along side,then a guy would use a pole with wire attached to ground the copter to the line. Two foot long sparks would leap from the line to the ground pole as it got near the line. Once grounded,they would fly alongside the line and climb out on a little platform on a landing skid to attach the struts to the line. When the job is done,they disconnect and fly away. I bet birds only try to sit on those lines once !!
