We used to mow them, but the traffic got so bad that the liability was too great. The Arkansas claims commission has hundreds of claims each year from accidents while mowing (you can't sue the state). There was one notorious incident a few years ago where a bush hog mower slung a blade off and killed a woman. I hate to see the Johnson grass on the ditch banks, but it is the job of the highway department. They get around to it a couple of times each year. There's always some sort of debris in the ditches that mowers sling.
